I was impressed by the professionalism of the Arthur Conias team as well as the effort they put in, particularly Victor Johnston to secure a sale price that I was happy with. The selling price was within the range they quoted and within the expected timeframe.

Victor and the team went to great lengths to help me complete some work that was required to the property to address items the buyer found in the building inspection. This included organising tradesmen to finish off items required to pass council certification (I had a building application approved several years ago but never completed the work).

Victor also did a great job of coordinating access with the tenants living in the house. Most impressive of all was the fact that the even though the property was in a riverside suburb a buyer was found during the Brisbane floods!

I did talk to another agent about selling through them but I was not happy with having to pay marketing costs and the fact that they claimed they would secure a price well in excess of any comparable sales to my property. Compare this to Arthur Conias – no marketing costs and realistic pricing based on what similar properties have sold for.

I can sum things up by saying if you have a property in the areas that Arthur Conias work in, you are just plain stupid to list it with anyone else.

For a year or so I contemplated selling my lovely riverfront apartment situated at Sandford Street, St Lucia. I interviewed quite a few agents but did not feel they were the people I wanted to place my property with. Due to several issues associated with the aesthetics of my property it became clear that selling my property would pose a challenge. After a false start with an alternate Real Estate agent, another agent A.V. Postle & Co recommended I consider Arthur Conias Real Estate. Arthur Conias was not only geographically in the locality of my property but also subscribed to the Neil Jenman model. When engaging Arthur Conias Real Estate I wasn’t aware this would be a protracted journey that would include up to three contracts falling over at the last minute. In spite of this fact, the staff at Arthur Conias continued to remain motivated to sell and encouraged me throughout the journey. This included providing advice, recommendations and inspiration. I especially appreciated the fact that I was constantly kept informed of potential visits and interested buyers, this was important as I am not in Brisbane so had no concept of what was happening on the ground. The team of Arthur Conias was always helpful and contactable and able to respond to my many queries. Of note was Karen Maxwell (although no longer with the agency) and Victor Johnston, both of whom, spoke to me post contracts falling over when I was very disappointed, and assured and encouraged me there was still potential interest within the Conias portfolio. Of exceptional note is Thomas Coussens. Thomas Coussens drove the deal home and I believe this is partially due to his ability to read people. Thomas Coussens was very much on board with my thinking and therefore was able to represent me well in negotiating with the potential buyer. Thank you to Arthur Conias and Christina and Heath and Jonathan and all attending the initial inspection of the property for the professional and gracious way they introduced themselves. This gave me the confidence I needed to prepare for the pending inspections of potential purchasers into our home. We were very glad that all of the sales representatives at Conias were genuinely motivated towards a good result for us. This became obvious in the next few days because of the large number of interested groups that were shown through the property.

The property photographer was very professional and worked methodically throughout the site. Conias did not charge us for any advertising costs whatsoever. Some of those experiences have been very costly to us and in one particular case without any result at all. Our negative attitudes towards real estate agents drawn from these past experiences had influenced the approach that we should take when listing this property. All inspections were conducted through an appointment only plan which worked exceedingly well for us. We always felt that our position as residents was considered when plans for the next of many appointments were made by phone contact with the particular representative. We felt completely informed and involved in the process.

Our first contact with Conias Real Estate was through Heath Townsend, who came to our home and comprehensively explained the policies of this company and their unique marketing style. We felt reassured from that initial contact that we should list our property with them. Heath gave us an excellent insight into what we might expect over the coming weeks. My wife and I are now living in Melbourne and had decided to take a one day trip to Brisbane to inspect a property we had planned to buy having done our initial homework on the internet. The property we inspected had turned out to be inappropriate and the trip was becoming a wasted exercise. By chance we stopped outside Arthur Conias Real Estate office in Toowong and found ourselves looking at the properties in the window.

The first thing that impressed me about Thomas Coussens was that he took the trouble to get out from behind his desk to come outside and greet us. Some people may find this confronting or be seen as a “pushy salesman” but Thomas was very professional, polite and quickly identified our needs and made us feel comfortable. He recommended a couple of properties that we may be interested in and suggested an initial drive-by as neither were available for viewing and the afternoon was rapidly slipping by. We soon identified a property that looked promising and called Thomas to see if we could inspect it. Time was of the essence and Thomas managed to organise an inspection with the tenants and met us on site within the hour. There was a number of building issues which were all highlight by Thomas so there were no surprises down the track.

The outcome is that we have purchased the home which involved a lot of remote control communications, emailing, phone calls and correspondence. This is not easy and Thomas has always been available, returned calls promptly, followed up and made the process seamless. I must even give him credit for squeezing a few extra dollars out of me for the vendor which is ultimately his responsibility and he did it without denigrating the buying process.

We have bought and sold 5 properties and this is the 2nd time we have been involved with the Jenman system of selling/buying and we would highly recommend it to all of our friends. And should the opportunity arise to buy another investment property in Brisbane, Thomas can be assured of a call from us.
